Cordilleran Binnadang Fund Drive for Typhoon Lawin Victims

binnadang typhoon lawin

In the spirit of Cordilleran Binnadang, we will be raising a fund drive for the typhoon Lawin victims in Pinukpuk, Kalinga and Conner, Apayao. Pinukpuk, Kalinga and Conner, Apayao are remote areas which have been heavily affected by typhoon Lawin. These towns often receive the least help due to difficult road access and its inaccessibility from each provincial capital. Source of income in these towns are through farming and manual labor. Upon initial assessment, volunteers were able to identify some typhoon victims in Tabuk, Kalinga and Santa Marcela, Apayao as beneficiaries for the fund drive. Through Cordilleran Binnadang, we would like to raise an initial amount of Php 200,000 or more to provide construction materials for the rebuilding of at least an initial of 10 selected homes in these remote towns. Once we get to raise more than the targeted amount of Php 200,000, we hope to help around 20 selected families from the said areas.

Some volunteers went to Kalinga and Apayao to assess the situation of typhoon victims last November 7 and 8, 2016. Most homes that were totally damaged by the typhoon were made with g.i. sheet, cogon grass and sawali. Up until now, only a few towns near Kalinga and Apayao’s provincial capital have electricity. Power in these provinces might take up to two months to be fully restored since electric posts have been damaged by the strong gust of wind.

We hope that through Cordilleran Binnadang, we can help restore the lives of our kakailyans by providing construction supplies for them to rebuild their homes. You can support our binnadang fund drive by sending your donations to our BPI joint account # 8123-0405-55 BPI LEGARDA BAGUIO CITY BRANCH. Joint account is named under Alexander Bangsoy and Jonathan Navalta. For those who will be sending their donations from abroad, you will be needing the swift code BOPIPHMM.

As usual, we will be posting whatever amount you have deposited for transparency. By the time we have reached the targeted total amount for donations, we will be withdrawing the entire amount deposited in the account to buy construction materials to be given to affected families. May God bless you all as you continue to bless others. Thank you for supporting our Cordilleran Binnadang.
